May is Lyme Disease Prevention Month and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is reminding everyone to protect yourself as you venture outdoors.
Lyme disease can lead to flu-like symptoms, arthritis, and even heart problems. To prevent these possible conditions the DEP is providing simple steps to stay safe.
- Using EPA-registered insect repellents
- Wearing long sleeves and pants when outdoors
- Checking for ticks after outdoor activities
If you suspect you may have Lyme disease you’re advised to seek a medical attention immediately.
