Although the past couple of days haven’t felt like spring, warmer weather is right around the corner.
With more people heading outside, state officials are reminding residents to be on the lookout for ticks.
Nathan Reiger is the Pennsylvania director of outdoor recreation and he says being aware of the presence of ticks is a good way to avoid getting bit.
“Walk in the middle of a trail to minimize contact with vegetation and small grass. Stop regularly and give yourself a quick physical examination to see if any ticks got on your clothes,” Reiger said.
Reiger says if you think you were bitten by a tick, evaluate yourself for symptoms of Lyme Disease and check with your doctor.
