A Kittanning man was injured following a police chase that occurred earlier this month in Rayburn Township.
According to State Police, authorities attempted to pull over a vehicle on Johnston Avenue around 10am on May 20th. Police say that the alleged driver, 29-year-old Damion Pounds, refused to pull over and led authorities on a chase.
That pursuit ended along River Road, when Pounds lost control of his vehicle, which then crossed a walking path and rolled down an embankment near the Allegheny River.
Officials say that Pounds attempted to swim away, but was pulled from the river by a passing citizen and a State Trooper. Pounds was later flown to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment of injuries sustained from the crash.
In addition to previous arrest warrants, Pounds faces a variety of charges including DUI, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
