One person died and another was seriously injured in a crash Tuesday on Route 422.
The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. in the westbound lane near Keck Road in Summit Township.
Police say 37-year-old Randall Hawk of Kittanning was driving the car when he went off the road for unknown reasons. His car then slammed into a guiderail and went into the eastbound lane, hitting an oncoming pickup truck.
Police say Hawk’s passenger, an unnamed 32-year-old from Kittanning, died at the scene. Hawk was flown to a Pittsburgh trauma center.
The driver of the truck, 22-year-old Brooke Campbell of New Castle, was not injured in the crash.
The accident closed Route 422 in both directions for hours. An investigation is still ongoing.
