Preparations have already begun for the Can-Am Police-Fire games taking place this summer in Butler County.
The Can-Am Police-Fire games showcase the athleticism, resilience, and teamwork of first responders across the United States and Canada.
There will be 50-plus unique sporting events hosted across 18 venues in Butler County, with net proceeds of the games going to the special Olympics of Pennsylvania.
Sheriff Mike Slupe is helping organize the games and he says his biggest challenge right now is getting the word out.
“I’m trying to get people an idea of what this is all about and get some excitement in the community. Whether that’s volunteering or participating if you’re a first responder or their family members,” Slupe said. “We’re really looking forward to getting that word out.”
The games will take place July 15-21, 2024 with events being held at different locations like Slippery Rock University, Moraine State Park, the UPMC Lemieux Complex, Alameda Park and more.
Registration for the games is now open and can be found on the Can-Am website.
