A large amount of state funding will go towards rail freight improvement projects including one in Butler County.
The Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad has been approved for about $1.8 million to replace nearly six miles of worn rail on curves in Butler and surrounding counties in order to improve rail conditions and safety.
This is part of $33 million being distributed statewide through the Rail Transportation Assistance and the Rail Freight Assistance Programs.
This funding will allow for a total of 25 improvement projects to be completed statewide while creating or sustaining over 200 jobs.
