Morning traffic essentially came to a halt earlier today following a tractor trailer crash on I-279.
The accident happened in the southbound lane around 3:20 a.m. near the Mount Nebo Road overpass. Our news partners at WPXI-TV report that a tractor trailer containing packages of peat moss rolled over.
The clean up was significant and required one lane to be closed for hours.
Traffic built and drivers soon saw delays in the southbound lane that stretched nearly to the Cranberry I-79/Turnpike interchange.
Delays are still happening through the I-79/279 split.
