Another step in the possible sale of the Butler Area Sewer Authority took place this morning as board members voted to move forward with a confidentiality agreement with Pennsylvania American Water.
The board voted 3-2 on the decision that will now essentially see the two sides exchange numbers on a possible sale.
According to the authority’s executive director, the agreement now heads to Butler City and Township officials before going back to the authority for a 60 day review.
Also during this time, the sewer authority will not be entertaining any other offers per the agreement. That comes despite efforts from Aqua America who was at the meeting and has publicly expressed interest in the acquiring the authority.
