Pennsylvania American Water Company is applying for a loan that would help improve the infrastructure at a couple of pump stations in Butler and Center Township.
The company submitted plans to upgrade six stations after they have experienced sanitary sewer overflow since 2018.
The upgraded pumps are expected to increase pumping capacity and effectively capture and convey peak weather flows. New wet wells and generators will also be installed for this project.
The DEP has approved loans for this project as long as they receive no significant comments by July 14th.
The project will receive final approval on July 16 from the PENNVEST board.
Funding for this project comes from the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
