As the weather warms, the Pennsylvania Game Commission is reminding residents to leave young wildlife alone.
Officials say while some baby animals might appear abandoned, their mothers are usually watching them from somewhere nearby.
The Game Commission says making contact with young wild animals can cause them to lose their natural fear of humans, which makes it difficult for them to exist in the wild.
It’s also illegal to take or possess wildlife from the wild and can result in a fine up to $1,500 per animal. Anyone who finds wildlife in need of assistance is asked to contact the Game Commission or a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
