Pennsylvania’s top health official is asking state residents who have received their COVID vaccine more than six months ago to get their booster shot.
Acting Health Secretary Keara Klinepeter says that while 75 percent of adults in the state are now fully vaccinated, only 33 percent have gotten a booster.
She says the data is pretty clear now that booster shots are a really good tool in helping prevent severe outcomes from COVID infections.
“It is the best thing you can do to protect yourself and your loved ones against the highly transmissible Omicron variant,” Klinepeter said. “You can make appointments at a local pharmacy or other institutions. We strongly encourage you to do that today.”
Over 50,000 Butler County residents have received their booster shot, and more than 112,000 are fully vaccinated.
