As cases continue to decline and vaccinations increase, Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Health was asked when mitigation efforts may be relaxed.
“That is an active, real time discussion with the Governor,” Alison Beam said. “We share the eagerness. We want to have a way to have folks feel like we’re on the other side of the pandemic.”
She says at the moment it’s still important for people to social distance and wear masks.
But, Beam says the coronavirus numbers are encouraging.
“We have had progress made, not only recently with the case decline and death rate decline, but our hospitalizations are also on the decline,” Beam said. “So Pennsylvania is progressing in the right direction, which is a real time discussion with the Governor about how we’re going to be moving forward with relaxing mitigation efforts.”
Over one million vaccines have been administered since the beginning of the pandemic.
