Elected officials in Pennsylvania are reacting following the mass shootings that left a total of 30 people dead in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio.
Governor Tom Wolf issued a statement saying he is in morning over what he called an “especially horrific 24 hours of gun violence in America.” Wolf stated he wants a ban on assault weapons and to establish stronger gun background checks.
U.S. Senator Pat Toomey said he has been working with other lawmakers to expand background checks to all firearm sales. He also thinks families and law enforcement should be able to get a court order to keep firearms out of the hands of a dangerous person.
Meanwhile, U.S. Senator Bob Casey commented that “politicians who refuse to take action are complicit in this carnage.”
