Pennsylvania State Police are participating in the national ‘Click It or Ticket’ campaign which begins today.
“Buckling up and making sure young children are properly secured in child safety seats are the easiest things people can do to protect themselves in the event of a crash,” State police spokesman Ryan Tarkowski said.
In Pennsylvania, failing to buckle up is a primary offense for drivers under 18, but a secondary offense for adult drivers who must be pulled over for something else in order to be cited for not wearing a seat belt. Fines and court costs can total upwards of $100 for violators.
As part of the campaign, state police are offering no-cost child safety seat fittings to make sure people are using the appropriate seats and that they’re installed correctly. An event was held over the weekend at the Unionville Volunteer Fire Department. Click here to see when and where upcoming fittings will be held.
