A special event took place earlier today to honor a local World War II veteran as he celebrates another milestone birthday.
Retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel John Mahler was the guest of honor at a surprise parade of vehicles past his residence marking his 102nd birthday.
Mahler lives across Duffy Road from the Abie Abraham VA Healthcare Center in Center Township where he was visited by a very large group of vehicles including fire trucks.
Butler native Mahler served as a B17 Bomber pilot during World War II.
