Parents in the Diocese of Pittsburgh are pushing back on the decision to require masks inside schools to start the year.
Nearly 2,400 parents have signed a petition online demanding that masks be optional this year.
Diocese officials made the decision earlier this year, saying that their biggest goal this year was to keep school open five-days-a-week and believe masks will help accomplish that goal.
The parents argue that these decisions instead are meant to “simplify responsibilities of administrators.”
The Diocese said they would reevaluate the masking policy in late September.
