The state Senate has officially started hearings into the 2020 election and as expected both parties had strong thoughts on it.
Intergovernmental Operations Committee Chairman, Republican Chris Dush insisted the investigation isn’t what some people think it is.
“This investigation is not about overturning the results of any election, as some would suggest,” Dush said. “Rather this investigation is about looking intensely to evaluate our election code is working, and to confirm if there were things that need to be changed in the law to make our elections run better for everyone.”
Meanwhile Democrat Jay Costa of Allegheny County says last year’s election has been rehashed a number of times, and that the state needs to move on.
“The 2020 election has been litigated many times. And each claim of impropriety has been proven false. It’s time here in Harrisburg that we begin to tackle the real issues that need to be addressed here in Pennsylvania,” Costa said.
The timeline of the investigation is also unclear as to when it will wrap up.
