A bipartisan group of lawmakers are hoping a new law will address staffing concerns with nurses in the state.
The proposed Patient Safety Act would set a minimum nurse-to-patient ratio for hospitals in the state. Lawmakers say that number would be based on each hospital’s specific setting.
“The patient safety act is key to retaining and recruiting the skilled staff that we need to meet the challenges we see today and in the future,” Democratic State Senator Maria Collett of Bucks County said.
“There’s a clear path forward and Pennsylvania’s nurses know the way. They’ve called their state legislators; told them it’s time to support the Patient Safety Act. And legislators are listening.
