Patricia A. Bishop, 88, of Fairview, went to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, September 14, 2024 at Sugarcreek Rest.
Patricia was born in Campbell Hollow, Fairview Twp. on April 25, 1936. She was the daughter of the late John and Lillianne Timblin Miller.
She was a 1954 graduate of Fairview Twp. Karns City High School and the Butler Business School. She had been employed as an executive secretary at both Koppers Co. and later retired as an executive secretary from Sonneborn/Wicto both in Petrolia. Pat enjoyed traveling to the beach at Nags Head, baking, cooking, and gardening. She was an avid golfer and had been a member of the former St. Jude Country Club in Chicora. She was always looking forward to the company of her family. Patricia was a long time active member of the former Fairview United Presbyterian Church, now The Fairview Red Brick Church and had served the church for many years as an elder and Sunday School Superintendent. Patty served on the Petrolia Medical Center Board and was instrumental in the hiring of Dr. Mercurio.
Surviving is her husband, Clarence W. “Bud” Bishop. The couple was married by the Rev. Sherrard on August 24, 1956 at the Fairview United Presbyterian Church. Also surviving are three children, Lisa R. McElroy and her husband, Gerald, of St. Simons Island, GA, Lori K. Martin and her husband, Timothy “Pepper”, of Fairview and Matt Bishop and his wife, Gretchen, of Chicora; Pat was affectionately “Ma Ma”, “Mee Ma”, “Nanny”, and “Grandma Pat” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by twelve grandchildren, Nathan, Brett, Elizabeth, Shawn, Mark, Jennifer, Ryan, Meghan, Holden, Lillianne, Clare, and Evalyn, as well as her nine great grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael J. Bishop, a brother, Donald “Buzz” Miller, and a sister, Doris Rivers.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday and on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Dennis Barger, a longtime family friend and pastor of the Scrubgrass Stone Church, Emlenton, officiating. Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.
