Patricia A. Bowers, age 89, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Butler, passed away Dec. 25, 2021 at Sunrise Senior Living of McCandless.
Born Feb. 23, 1932 in Grove City, she was the daughter of the late Maurice A. and Mary M. O’Neill Walsh.
She was a graduate of Grove City College, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, and she received her master’s degree in Counseling from LaRoche College.
Patricia was retired from Butler County Community College, where she was among the first faculty when the college initially opened.
She was a member of All Saints Parish, Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church. Gifted with a beautiful singing voice, Patricia was a longtime member of the St. Paul Choir and she also served as a cantor.
She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Pennsylvania, and she volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by four children, Kate Bowers, of Cranberry Township, James Bowers and his wife, Doreen, of Savannah, Ga., Sue Leahy and her husband, Tom, of Pittsburgh, and Tricia Bowers, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; one sister, Maureen Walsh, of Grove City; five grandchildren, Stefanie Rodgers and her husband, Chris, Maxx Bowers, Jack Leahy, Jess Leahy, and Mike Leahy; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse G. Bowers, Jr., who passed away June 20, 2011; two brothers, Jack Walsh and Thomas Walsh; and one sister, Peggy Walsh Mallison.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler, on Thurs., Dec. 30, from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Fri., Dec. 31, at 10 a.m. from All Saints Parish, Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler, with Rev. Dan Waruszewski officiating.
Burial will take place in Butler County Memorial Park.
