The Butler Area School District is moving forward with another capital improvement project to be completed over the summer.
During their Monday night meeting, the school board approved a contract with Shields Asphalt Paving for paving work needed at Northwest Elementary School at a cost of nearly $157,000.
A total of three bids were received for the project with the money to pay for them coming from the district’s capital projects bond issue in early 2018. Acceptance of this proposal was recommended by the district architects.
The board also decided to move the first day of school in the fall semester to September 1st in order to allow for the completion of a construction project at the Senior High School to change the locations of the main office with the library.
