We have received more details about a Wednesday night incident in which a pedestrian was struck and killed by a train.
According to Butler City Police, the accident happened just before 7:30 p.m. in the Island neighborhood in the City of Butler, near the 400 block of Negley Avenue.
33-year-old Zecheriah Summerville of Butler was hit by a Canadian National Railroad train traveling at about 35 miles per hour. He was deceased when first responders arrived on the scene.
The investigation is ongoing but police believe the death to be accidental. Crews remained on scene for nearly two hours.
This is the second incident this month of a local resident being struck and killed by a train in Butler with the first occurring October 4th.
