The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the visiting Buffalo Sabres on Saturday afternoon, the final 1-0.
Jeff Carter scored the lone goal for the Pens in their regular season finale. Goalie Maxime Lagace made his first start on Saturday, and made 29 saves.
The Penguins also earned their first division title since the 2013-2014 season on Saturday. To earn the division title, the Penguins had to win their game on Saturday, and needed some help from the Washington Capitals. Since the Capitals did not win their game in regulation on Saturday, the East Division title went to the Pens.
More information about the upcoming postseason will be available in the coming days.
