The Pittsburgh Penguins made two trades Wednesday as the NHL trade deadline looms Friday:
–The Pens sent forward Michael Bunting to Nashville in exchange for veteran defenseman Luke Schenn and forward Tommy Novak. Bunting is currently on Injured Reserve after having his appendix removed. The Pens also sent a 2026 fourth-round draft pick along with Bunting.
–The Pens also sent defenseman Vincent Desharnais to San Jose in exchange for a 2028 fifth-round draft pick. The Pens had just recently acquired Desharnais in the trade with Vancouver that sent Marcus Pettersson and Drew O’Connor to the Canucks. He played only 10 games with the Penguins.
