The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed the first member of their recent 2024 draft class, agreeing Wednesday to a three-year entry-level contract with Tanner Howe. The second-round pick of the Penguins, taken 46th overall in last month’s draft, Howe served as captain of the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League last season. In 68 WHL games, the 18-year old led the team with 77 points. Howe had 28 goals. He comes to the Penguins with a cap hit of $875,000. He is likely to remain with Regina and the WHL for at least another season.
