An online program scheduled to begin later this week will provide information about the impact of the war in Ukraine.
Penn State Extension is offering a weekly webinar series beginning Friday titled “The War in Ukraine: Impacts on the People, Forests, and Environment”. The series will continue each Friday through May 3rd from noon to 1:30 p.m.
A professor of forestry at the College of Agricultural Sciences will teach lead a discussion about how water sources have been contaminated due to infrastructure damage while widespread deforestation and soil erosion present immediate threats to public health and the ecosystem.
Participants will also hear from Ukrainian foresters, researchers, and other experts close to the conflict about how individuals can make a difference. There is no cost to attend but registration is requested by visiting the Penn State Extension website.
