The roof of the Penn Theater is once again leaking but repairs will be made to limit the damage.
Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler board members were informed of the situation and the steps being taken to address the issue Thursday afternoon.
Authority maintenance staff noticed that recent severe storms have caused a series of leaks in the roof. Donated materials will be used to patch bad areas when weather permits but it is not known how much time it will take to complete the repairs. The theater roof last received extensive repairs in the spring of 2018.
The authority purchased the Theater through an agreement with the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation at a cost of $250,000. An additional $15,000 in interest is added yearly. The Authority has been unable to make payments through this agreement for nearly nine years.
