PennDOT has finalized an agreement with Norfolk Southern to expand rail service in Western Pennsylvania.
The new deal looks to increase the daily train trips between New York City and Pittsburgh via Harrisburg from once to twice daily.
The agreement also says that Pennsylvania will invest $200 million in updates to rail infrastructure.
PennDOT officials say that this deal will ensure that residents have safe and reliable transportation from Western PA to other parts of the state.
