Motorists are advised to be aware of the next step in the Route 228 project in Middlesex Township coming up this week.
PennDOT officials say that beginning Monday at 8 p.m. workers will be removing and resetting the temporary concrete barrier onto new asphalt. A tie-in at the intersection of Route 8 and Route 228 will also be installed.
Then on Tuesday night, the contractor will complete the temporary road tie-in and traffic will be switched onto the new roadway. Westbound will still be one lane but eastbound will have two lanes.
This will allow for work to be done on the current intersection. The overall cost for this project is $26.5 million and it is expected to be completed in the spring of 2025.
