PennDOT is now beginning their sixth annual Innovations Challenge for high school students.
The contest encourages students to come up with creative ideas that would help solve real-world transportation challenges.
This year’s focus to is help address the shortage of commercial truck parking on major interstate corridors in the state.
Officials say many trucks park on the side of the highway overnight and that is a major safety concern.
PennDOT selects regional winners who are then invited to pitch their ideas to the PennDOT secretary. The winning team takes home a total award of $4,000.
The deadline for submission is January 27th—view more information here.
