A local municipality has been awarded a state grant to improve local traffic conditions.
Slippery Rock Township will receive nearly $790,000 through the PennDOT Multimodal Transportation Fund to widen Kiester Road.
The money will be used to eliminate open ditches, install stormwater piping and inlets, and add new culverts and guiderail over two stream crossings that currently do not exist.
A total of 58 projects in 37 counties across the state received a combined nearly $50 million as part of this program.
The next round of applications opens next month with selections based on safety benefits, regional economic conditions, job creation, energy efficiency, and technical and financial feasibility.
