The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is continuing mid-summer road project maintenance work around Butler County this week.
These activities include drainage work along Route 8 in Middlesex Township, pipe installation on Dick Road in Connoquenessing Township, and bridge deck repair on Route 528 (Lindsay Road) in Jackson Township.
Patching will be taking place on West Sunbury Road in Marion and Township, and Euclid Road in Clay Township, Franklin and Little Creek Roads in Cranberry and Jackson Townships, and Route 19 Perry Highway in Muddy Creek Township while seal coat work is planned for Penn Township along Meridian Valencia and Brownsdale Roads.
Crews will also be shoulder cutting along Branchton and Keister Roads in Cherry and Slippery Rock Townships.
Finally, the last phase of work on the Route 228 Balls Bend project is set to begin this week. PennDOT officials say they will begin a single-lane traffic restriction from Route 8 to Davis Road to allow for crews to accomplish paving work starting this Monday night at 8 p.m. The closures will continue until 6 a.m. the next morning through Friday then Saturday and Sunday from 6 p.m. to 11 a.m. Poor weather would push this work to the following week. Drivers should expect flaggers and changing traffic patterns. PennDOT officials still anticipate this nearly $27 million project will be completed in January.
