The state secretary of transportation is saying their department is out of money and it could impact jobs and construction projects.
Yasmir Gramian testified in front of state lawmakers yesterday seeking emergency legislative approval to borrow $600 million.
She said the lack of money from the gasoline tax this year is part of the reason in the shortage of funding.
Gramian said the department has been moving money around from other various line items, awaiting additional funding from the federal government. So far that help hasn’t come.
State legislators expressed their anger with PennDOT for the delay in reporting this shortage, but said they would be willing to help.
