State officials say there was a drop in school zone traffic violations this year.
During the annual “Operation Safe Stop” initiative held earlier this October, police and school districts reported 131 violations—which is down from last year’s 177.
However, all of those violations happened in one day. PennDOT officials say the data shows that many drivers still are not following the proper procedures in school zones.
Penalties can be as harsh as a 60-day suspension of your license, along with a $300 fine.
