PennDOT is joining national efforts to crackdown on drunk driving.
The initiative runs through Labor Day and Pennsylvania Transportation Secretary Yassmin Gramian says PennDOT is working with law enforcement to reduce impaired driving.
“PennDOT is reminding motorists to drive sober, or get pulled over. Safety is PennDOT’s number one priority,” Gramian said. “WE are urging everyone to drive sober this coming holiday and always.”
Gramian also says that impaired driving includes more than just drunk driving.
“Law enforcement also are working to identify drivers who are impaired by illegal drugs, or prescription medications, or some combination of the two,” Gramian said.
D.U.I. penalties have become significant over the last 15 years.
