Pennsylvania’s Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against Verizon for failure to deliver on items promised to customers who signed contracts.
The lawsuit alleges that Verizon violated the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law when advertisements promised a free Amazon Echo or a free subscription to Amazon Prime for beginning or renewing contracts between November of 2017 and January of 2018.
Customers were told that they would receive an email with instructions for claiming the items, but Josh Shapiro’s office found that did not happen as promised. Verizon did not correct the problem for months and some people never received their promised item.
Anyone who has experienced issues with the Verizon offer of a free Echo or Prime membership should call the Bureau of Consumer Protection or file a complaint online through the Attorney General’s website.
