The Pennsylvania Farm Show is nearly underway in Harrisburg.
This is the 108th year for the show, which highlights different aspects of the agriculture industry in our state.
PA Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding discusses this year’s theme “Connecting Our Communities”:
“That is a symbiotic relationship. We need the community to recognize and value the importance of Pennsylvania agriculture as part of our community, as part of our food system which we recognize most easily. But, it’s also the jobs, the environment, and quality of life,” Redding said.
The Pennsylvania Farm Show is the nation’s largest indoor agricultural event, featuring over 12,000 competitive events and exhibits, nearly 6,000 animals, and hundreds of commercial exhibitors, educational displays, and entertainment.
According to Redding, the agriculture industry has many important parts but none more so than the people:
“It’s the folks at the end of the day who are committed to the industry who recognize what it takes to stay in it,” Redding said. “We as an administration and as a department have worked to make sure that continues, that we honor both the history and industry of agriculture, while thinking about its future.”
The show runs Saturday through Saturday, the 6th through the 13th. Admission is free and parking is $15 in Farm Show lots. More information about the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex is available through the website farmshow.pa.gov.
