Pennsylvania plans to take a closer look at how the state handles juvenile justice with help from a newly created Juvenile Justice Task Force.
Governor Tom Wolf was joined by legislative leaders and justices earlier this week to formalize an agreement with the Pew Charitable Trusts to create the task force.
“Improving our juvenile justice system can have an enormous, positive impact on our Commonwealth by preventing young Pennsylvanians from ever entering our state prison system,” Wolf said.
Wolf was joined by legislative leaders and justices earlier this week to formalize an agreement with the Pew Charitable Trusts to create the task force.
The task force members will be appointed within 30 days and they will develop a report about what should be done to strengthen the state’s juvenile justice system.
“With this task force, we can thoroughly review our juvenile justice system and find ways to make lasting change to make sure every young Pennsylvanian is getting the support they need to grow into a successful adult,” Wolf said.
That report is expected to be delivered before November 30th of 2020.
