Both Pennsylvania Senators are weighing in on possible infrastructure bills that are being debated in Congress.
Republican Senator Pat Toomey has been involved in bipartisan conversations about an infrastructure bill that would tackle more traditional issues like roads and bridges. But he tells CNN he would like to see a different way to pay for it.
“I think the way we should pay for this increase in infrastructure spending is to repurpose money we’ve already approved but hasn’t gone out the door,” Toomey said. “But that’s a point of great contention with the Democrats.”
Democratic Senator Bob Casey meanwhile told MSNBC that he believes a bipartisan bill will pass, but is aiming on another bill he calls care giving infrastructure.
“It’s mostly woman who are trying to get back to work, who may not need just a physical bridge to get from one place to another, but they may need a care giving bridge that provides quality, affordable childcare,” Casey said.
Both bills are expected to be at the forefront of debate in Washington this week.
