Hours after the NHL postponed tonight’s game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and New Jersey Devils at PPG Paints Arena, the league decided to move the league into its Christmas break early due to rising virus cases. The Pens and Devils just played over the weekend, but the Devils were dealing with a virus surge. The league will allow two games to be played tonight, then shut down until next week. Players will report back to their teams for testing Sunday.
The postponed game between the Pens and Devils was the 43rd NHL game to be postponed. The Pens game with Philadelphia Thursday is also postponed. No rescheduled dates have been announced.
