The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-1 last night at PPG Paints Arena. The Pens fell behind 1-0 after one period, but scored four goals in the second period, with three goals coming in a five minute span.
Jake Guentzel scored twice, for his 30th and 31st goals of the season. It is the second time in his career that he has topped the 30-goal plateau in a season. Bryan Rust, and Evgeni Malkin also scored. Sidney Crosby had three points in the game, which saw the debut of newly acquired winger Rickard Rakell. Tristan Jarry stopped 26 of 27 shots in goal.
The Pens are back in action tonight in Buffalo. Face-off is 7:30pm. Pre-game on WISR is 7pm.
The Pens remain three points behind first-place Carolina, who stopped a four-game slide with a 3-2 win over Tampa Bay last night. The Pens did gain two points on the New York Rangers, who lost 7-4 to the New Jersey Devils.
