The Pittsburgh Penguins released their protected player list ahead of Wednesday’s NHL Expansion Draft to stock the new Seattle Kraken team. The Kraken will select 30 players, one from each team, with the exception of the most recent expansion team, the Vegas Golden Knights. The Pens were able to protect 11 players from their current roster.
Players protected include: Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, Teddy Blueger, Jeff Carter, Brian Dumoulin, Tristan Jarry, Jake Guentzel, Bryan Rust, Mike Matheson and Kasperi Kapanen.
