The Pittsburgh Penguins lost to the Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 last night. The loss officially eliminated them from the post-season, for the third consecutive season. Rickard Rakell scored the Penguins only goal of the game in the third period. It was his 34th goal of the season, and came on a Penguins power play. Sidney Crosby’s point streak ended at 13 games.
The Penguins host the Blackhawks Tuesday.
The Pens defeated the Dallas Stars 5-3 Saturday. Sidney Crosby scored a hat trick and had an assist in that game. He had 11 goals and nine assists over his 12-game point streak, which was the fourth-longest of his career.
Alexander Ovechkin scored his 895th career goal Sunday in the Washington Capitals 4-1 loss to the New York Islanders. He broke Wayne Gretzky’s all-time record on a second period power play with Gretzky in attendance at the game. Ovechkin now has 42 goals this season.
