The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 in overtime last night at PPG Paints Arena. Bryan Rust gave the Penguins a 3-2 lead mid-way through the third period, but the Hurricanes Jordan Staal tied the game less than three minutes later. Carolina would score the game-winner just twenty-three seconds into the overtime. Sidney Crosby opened the scoring with his 19th goal of the season on a Penguins power play in the first period. The Hurricanes would score two goals in the next thirty seconds of the game.
The Penguins have now had a power play goal in 10 consecutive games. They will visit the New York Islanders Tuesday.
