The Pittsburgh Penguins begin a three game road trip tonight in Denver when they play the Colorado Avalanche Face-off is 9pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 8:30pm.
The Pens have recalled goaltender Tristan Jarry from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the American Hockey League. Jarry had been sent there in mid-January after an extended stretch of poor play and the Penguins brought up Joel Blomqvist for an extended look at the NHL level. But he has gone 1-4-1. Meanwhile, Jarry has not been much better, allowing four goals in each of his last three games with the Baby Penguins. He won just two of seven starts there.
The Pens have placed defenseman P.O. Joseph on Injured Reserve. He was hurt in the Penguins loss to Boston Saturday. He suffered the injury after knocking Boston’s Brad Marchand out of the game with a corner hit.
The Pens have signed seventh-round draft pick Finn Harding to an entry-level deal. The 20-year old defenseman has been playing in the Ontario Hockey League where he has had an impressive season, with 55 points in 59 games. Harding was spotted by a Penguins scout, who convinced general manager Kyle Dubas that he was worth a late round selection. That move appears to be paying off with the entry-level contract. Harding joins a stable of impressive defensive prospects that include 18-year old Harrison Brunicke, Emil Pieniniemi and Owen Pickering.
