The Pittsburgh Penguins erased a 3-1 deficit and defeated the Buffalo Sabres 5-4 in a shoot-out last night at PPG Paints Arena. The Pens scored three times in the third period to force overtime. Drew O’Connor scored twice for the Pens. Kasperi Kapanen scored the game-tying goal with less than a minute remaining in regulation. Jason Zucker scored the game-winning shoot-out goal.
The game was the Pens final home game of their preseason. They will visit Detroit Thursday before visiting Columbus Saturday night to end exhibition play. The Pens visit the defending Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning to open the regular season next Tuesday.
