The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Vancouver Canucks 5-4 last night at PPG Paints Arena. The teams combined for six goals in the opening period. After the Pens fell behind 3-0 in the game, head coach Mike Sullivan pulled starting goaltender Casey DeSmith in favor of Dustin Tokarski, who stopped 18 of the 19 shots he faced. The Pens responded by tying the game by the end of the first period. Evgeni Malkin scored twice to lead the Pens, who have now won two games in a row.
The Pens host Winnipeg Friday for a 7pm face-off, then travel to Carolina Saturday night.
