The Pens snapped an 0-for-21 power play scoreless streak when Kris Letang set up Rust for one of his goals. Sidney Crosby and Zach Aston-Reese would score empty-net goals at the end of the game.
The Penguins will host the Capitals again Tuesday for a 7pm face-off. WISR pre-game begins at 6:30pm.
