A state program to dispose of canceled, suspended, or unwanted pesticide products is open to Butler County residents.
Farmers and other licensed pesticide applicators or businesses are invited to sign up through the Department of Agriculture’s CHEMSWEEP program.
This program operates in a select number of counties each year and collects unwanted pesticides for disposal at little or no cost. Only pesticides that are or have been registered for sale or use in Pennsylvania will be accepted.
Those interested in participating should complete and return the registration form found on the Department of Agriculture’s website. The deadline to apply is February 28th.
This program is not for homeowner pesticide disposal. Those wishing to dispose of home and garden pesticides should take advantage of the Department of Environmental Protection’s Household Hazardous Waste Program.
