Peter Albert Talleri, age 86, of Butler, died unexpectedly Friday, October 8, at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Talleri was born November 9, 1934, in Yatesboro, Pa., the son of the late Peter and Anna Veseri Talleri.
Mr. Talleri had a distinguished military career, retiring from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant in 1972. After his military retirement he was employed at the Veterans Affairs Hospital, Butler.
Mr. Talleri is survived by his loving family: his children, Maj. Gen (Ret.) Peter Talleri and wife, Deborah, of Southpointe, Pa., Yvonne Foley, of Virginia Beach, Va., Kelly Schlobohm, of Butler, Karen Jahn and husband, Daniel, of Butler; his sister, Phyllis Holt, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and his former spouse, Theresa Shaffer, of Butler.
He also leaves behind his beloved 11 grandchildren, Adam Talleri, Danielle Land, Anna Kalarovich, MSgt (Ret) Michael Hjorton, Cortney James, Adriana Foley, William Schlobohm, Seph Schlobohm, Edwin Silvis, Jr., Chantel Silvis, and Chelsea Werth. He will also be missed by his 22 great-grandchildren.
He always taught his grandchildren to take pride in family and watch over each other.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Augusta, Sebastian, Adeline, Mary Ann, Nancy, Emma and Joseph. Heaven just got a little brighter now that Peter has joined them.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Avenue, Butler.
A Committal Service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Cemetery in Yatesboro, with Reverend Ronald Maquinana officiating.
Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Armstrong County American Legion Honor Guard.
